I am a huge 24 fan...probably one of the biggest. I make sure that my Monday nights are free, my phone is off, my work is complete, and no one bothers me. I hole up in the living room, switch on the HD, pop a beer, and settle in for the most intense 60 minutes of my week.
Since the writer's strike pretty much ended any hopes of season seven airing last winter, I have been pretty bummed. I have tried to really get into another show, but nothing is the same. I mean there is NCIS, the Unit, CSI, and so forth. But none of these really does it for me. Nothing is as intense and none of the stories are as good as you'll find on 24.
Thank you to the great people at Fox for bringing me the Rookie. The Rookie is an online series that is a spinoff of 24. There is no Jack or Audrie. There is no Palmer brother or sister (yet). But the series is great! The story is developing pretty well and the action is as good as you could expect for brief episodes. I will certainly keep tuned in to see what happens next.
So although nothing will or can replace 24 and I will continue to wait with bated breath for the return of Jack and Audrie and CTU, the Rookie has done a fine job filling the time for now. Check it out...
